The following are the belt ranking requirements for Kata and Kumite under the International Ryu Kyu Kai karate-Do Association. The ranking and testing requirements are the ones established by Saito Grandmaster. There are six colored belts, eight including Black Belt, White, Yellow, Green, Blue, Purple, and Brown.

10^th Kyu - 9^th Kyu White to White Bar

9^th Kyu - 8^th Kyu White Bar to Yellow

8^th Kyu - 7^th Kyu Yellow to Orange

7^th Kyu - 6^th Kyu Orange to Green

6^th Kyu - 5^th Kyu Green to Purple

4^th Kyu - 3^rd Kyu Purple Bar to Brown 3 Bars

3^rd Kyu - 2^nd Kyu Brown 3 Bars to Brown 2 Bars

1^st Kyu - 1 Dan Brown 1 Bar to Black

1^st Dan - 2^nd Dan

2^nd Dan - 3^rd Dan

3^rd Dan - 4^th Dan
